The DOC is IN Party!

Yesterday we celebrated Reagan's 3rd birthday. She insisted on  a Doc McStuffin's theme and I had a blast planning it. I love party planning and including small details that really make the party -so sit down, have a cup of coffee and walk through the party with me.It's gonna be a LONG post.

I started by making my own invitations. I didn't really see anything that I LOVED on etsy so I decided to make my own. I liked a simple, crisp look and so did Reagan.

I really wanted to make it a kid friendly party so we had a "clinic" set up. I rented two small kid tables, along with chairs so that they would have plenty of places to play. I borrowed some neighbors stethoscopes so I had extra, used my kitchen scale, made a height chart and picked up some medicine dispensers at Target so that we had different activities to do for the check up.  Once the check up was complete- you got a sticker for your patient! I found some great Doc McStuffins stickers online here (like the kind you get when you go to doctors office. They had a ton of different stickers so I also picked up some for Mason's next party. The kids loved it. It was forecast to rain so I also printed out some Doc coloring sheets along with rescue bots (we had some older brothers in attendance who love rescue bots) that way they had something to keep them busy while we waited for everyone to arrive and the clinic to begin.

I lucked out with the pink chairs.

kid tables set up ready to go!

I made the height chart just like the one in Doc's Clinic. I also made leaves with every child's name on them so we could measure their height too.

We also played put the bandaid on Boppy (just like the episode when Boppy gets a hole from the rose bush) I had a picture blown up- but it was crazy expensive to print that big in color, so I printed in black and white and colored in Boppy and small details on each character.

When Reagan first saw it, she said "somethings wrong with the picture" and Mason said "No, that's just what old things look like. It's old." HA!

And finally it was time to eat. I didn't remember to take a picture once all the food was out, but I thought it turned out great- we served bandaid wafers, doc's orders veggies (veggie tray), mystery pox berries (mixed berries), a M&M a day keeps the doctor away, and McStuffin Muffins (a tray with banana muffins and sausage balls).

I added a baby picture of Reagan to the bar and used purple and white striped wrapping paper as a table runner.
drink station. (again without the beverages)
I made a little sign that said "the doc is in" and put it in frame I had on hand.
I can't believe I forgot to grab a picture with everything set out. Oh well.
I also made a fabric pennant banner to hang over the table.
My favorite detail was the CAKE! I have a super talented friend who makes cakes in Nashville and she made the amazing Doc McStuffins fondant toppers for our cake.  I didn't want the stress of making a two tier cake so I got it from Publix but asked that they tint the actual cake purple and leave the icing plain white so I could decorate it. I picked it up early Sunday morning and began my cake makeover.

I loved being able to add some personal touches to it.

 Look at those amazing toppers!
And the purple. My little girl was in heaven.
Mason saw me making the band-aid for the cake and wanted to make one too. He wants to help so much so I added it to the back of the cake and was sure to show it to everyone who came in. Made his mama proud.

Final detail- the favors. I found these notebooks online here and decided to make my own big book of boo-boos. I made red notebooks the boys attending and tweaked the front a little to make it a little less girlie.I found over sized crayons on amazon and got them in purple and red to go with the notebooks.

I added some extra Doc Stickers and made a felt band-aid for everyone. The band-aids weren't hard, but were tedious to sew. However, if I had to do it all over again. I would. They turned out super cute.

And Lambie tails! I felt like between the cake, m&m's, and vanilla wafers, the kids had enough sugar for one day, so I sent them home with a chocolate dipped marshmellow rolled in sprinkles. I'm not a fan but Mason loves them!

And no party is complete without a party outfit- I made her skirt and appliqued her shirt.
I have another great friend make Reagan an exact Doc McStuffin's headband. Reagan was decked out from head to toe in doc gear. She had a great day! And everyday I am thankful I get to be her mom.

Happy birthday sweet Reagan.

A day on the farm

After this crazy news week, I was very happy to spend the day, in the country, with my family, enjoying life, laughter, and family. My Aunt and Uncle are amazing people who have never met an animal they would turn away- their hearts are that big. I loved that today, we got to spend time with them celebrating their son's graduation and enjoying their love of nature. The kids got to enjoy brushing, and riding horses, learning about bees, and riding a golf cart. They were in heaven. It was good for my soul- good for my spirit to see so much happiness even when it feels like so many bad things are happening around us. I don't ever want to take my family and all my blessings for granted. And sometimes I think I need to get lost in the country to remember that.

T-Ball

We had our first T-Ball game today and it went great. Mason hit the ball both times he went up to bat and he was excited to run the bases. He got a ball (I won't say caught it, but he got it) and threw it to first! Reagan enjoyed the game as well- cheering for all the Red's players when they went up to bat. She was a bit upset at the beginning because she wanted to play- she has already told me she is doing t-ball next year!

Mason at bat.
He hit it!

Way to go Reds!
