20 things from my 20's

This post is about me, so if you only want to read about Mason and Reagan- wait till my next post :)

As I begin my last month in my 20’s I wanted to make a list of 20 things that I experienced in my 20’s that I want to remember. The good, the bad, the ugly. Here is what I came up with.

1. Graduated with my Bachelors from UT- Chattanooga
2. Spent an amazing year traveling the country and meeting wonderful sisters as I served as a chapter consultant for Alpha Delta Pi
3. Stood beside two of my best friends as their maid of honors as they began a new chapter in their lives. I am happy to say when I got married, they stood beside me too!
4. Married my best friend, Steve.
5. Graduated with my masters from the University of Georgia.
6. Got my first “real job” with benefits and all, at Agnes Scott College, in Decatur, GA.
7. In the past 10 years, I have called Chattanooga, Athens, Decatur, and Kirkland home.
8. Experienced my first UGA football game and have bled red and black since.
9. Gave birth twice to my two sweet children- I now understand unconditional love.
10. Got a tattoo. Something I know my parents and Steve weren’t too happy about, but that means something special to me and always will.
11. Bought my first NEW car. It had 5 miles on it.
12. Met Rue McClanahan (from Golden Girls) and Bill Gates (not on the same day) but still the only two famous people I have met in the last 10 years.
13. Moved into my first apartment by myself, no roomies, just me.
14. Adapted my first child, Bailey, our blue heeler beagle mix. She is still my baby girl.
15. Bought our first house, we have the mortgage to prove it.
16. Not a happy memory, but while on call, I handled two attempted suicides. Neither one was successful, but I will forever be changed because of them.
17. Lost my maternal grandmother.
18. Learned to knit. I learned to embroider. I learned to stamp. I learned to roll fondant. I learned that crafts calm my nerves. I learned that making things for other people make me happy.
19. I remember where I was when I heard about 9/11 (bedroom @ UTC Place), the beginning of the Iraq war (chapter room at Emory University), Hurricane Katrina (our house in Decatur), Virginia Tech (professional development @Lakeside), and Gulf Oil Spill (hospital having Reagan). These events all reminded me that we are human, people have free will, we can’t control everything and we need to take care of our earth for future generations because we won’t always be here. It reminds me to love my neighbor.
20.Finally, in the last 10 years I can saw I have loved deeply, laughed frequently, drank more than I care to remember, cried often, and would do it all again in a heartbeat.

It was hard to think of bad things so I think I will just say this is my list of memorable events. For what they were worth. Look for my list of 30 things to do in my 30’s coming after the big day! It’s been a great ride so far!
