Saturday the Knox County Imagination Library hosted The Great Cake Bake. The event was open to beginner cake bakers to the pros. We decided it would be a fun event to take the kids too, since it supported the imagination library and we knew many of the cakes would probably be children book themed. Plus it promised cake samples and kid crafts, so we were in! It opened at noon and we arrived at 12:30 and am I glad we did- when we left at 2pm there was a long line to get in. Another added bonus was that it took place at Neyland Stadium- the stadium for the UT Vols(for my non Tennessee readers). This was both Mason and Reagan's first visit to an SEC stadium- although I have to say the first of many- we plan to take them to some of our favorites through the years.
I was really impressed with all the cakes. It is amazing what people can do!
Here are some of our favorites. (you can click on the pics to see them bigger I just didn't want to make the post too long)
the turtle
A train with books (one of Mase's favs!)
Sushi
Monkey and dots (my fav!)
cat in the hat
a gnome
the Giving Tree
And of course, Dolly herself!
Since we were AT the stadium, we decided to let the kids have a look.
Reagan and the Power T!
Mason and Dad getting a closer look.
Mason picking our seats!
GO VOLS (until they play UGA!)
I really liked this post and reminded me of a tradition we have with the boys. Every December we go to the Gingergread Extravaganza! When we first went, the youngest wasn't even around yet(he's 6). This year was the best because we were all into it, picking our favorites and a scavenger hunt about the different ones! Maybe The Great Cake Bake will be a tradition for ya'll!
