Maybe time for a haircut

Today, Mason found a bobbypin and asked me what it was for so I told him you put it in your hair. And he said to put it in his hair.
The result.

hmmm. is this a sign we need to cut it? You can actually see his forehead!
And of course, Miss Reagan. You know she'll be ONE in less than a month. My sweet baby girl is growing up!

The Great Cake Bake

Saturday the Knox County Imagination Library hosted The Great Cake Bake. The event was open to beginner cake bakers to the pros. We decided it would be a fun event to take the kids too, since it supported the imagination library and we knew many of the cakes would probably be children book themed. Plus it promised cake samples and kid crafts, so we were in! It opened at noon and we arrived at 12:30 and am I glad we did- when we left at 2pm there was a long line to get in. Another added bonus was that it took place at Neyland Stadium- the stadium for the UT Vols(for my non Tennessee readers). This was both Mason and Reagan's first visit to an SEC stadium- although I have to say the first of many- we plan to take them to some of our favorites through the years.
I was really impressed with all the cakes. It is amazing what people can do!

Here are some of our favorites. (you can click on the pics to see them bigger I just didn't want to make the post too long)

the turtle
A train with books (one of Mase's favs!)
Sushi
Monkey and dots (my fav!)
cat in the hat
a gnome
the Giving Tree
And of course, Dolly herself!

Since we were AT the stadium, we decided to let the kids have a look.

Child of Mine

Child of mine,
I will never do for you that which I know you can do for yourself.
I will never rob you of an opportunity to show yourself your ability and talent.

I will see you at all times as the capable, effective, powerful creator that you've come forth to be.
And I will stand back as your most avid cheerleading section.

But I will not do for you that which you have intended to do for yourself.

Anything you need from me, ask. I'm always here to compliment or assist.

I am here to encourage your growth, not to justify my experience through you.

Prayers

Every night we say our prayers with Mason and Reagan. We have been working with Mason on his sign of the cross and he finally got it. In his own way. I love it and am so happy we caught it on video to always cherish this sweet moment. Enjoy!

PS. I have to add that when we start the Lord's Prayer, every time, faithfully, Reagan looks up and smiles at us. Melts.My.Heart.

A day on the lake

Mason has been on spring break this past week so we spent a few days in Belvidere visiting grandparents and enjoying the awesome weather. Mason's new favorite obsession is boats and lucky for us- my parents have one. So we spent some time on the lake this week- he was in heaven. He loved seeing all the boats at the marina, learning about the boat, going slow in the "no wake" zone, going fast, driving the boat, and watching the geese. I love that he can now verbalize so much- it is amazing to hear everything he has to say! Reagan also headed to the lake with us and she enjoyed herself as well. Although I think I learned the most important lesson- don't get on a boat without extra diapers!

Waving to me- My favorite!

Thankful Thursday

I know it has been a month since I blogged- I promise to fill in the gaps of the last month, but I wanted to post my thankful Thursday. These two kiddos rock my world. I can't imagine life without them. Thank you, Mason and Reagan for making me a mommy. Without you, I am not me.
